Our Story

Battery Bin began as a school project on the 3Rs — Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. In April 2024, after reading about the Ghazipur landfill fire — approximately 15 kilometres from home — I started looking more closely at the environmental consequences of waste disposal. That research led me to recognise how little attention battery waste receives, and how much damage improper disposal causes to soil, water, and public health.

What started as a school project has grown into a broader initiative focused on collection, authorised recycling, institutional partnerships, and environmental education. At first, I wasn't sure if anyone would support it — or if I'd even find a recycling partner. After countless emails, one company responded. That single reply gave me the push to begin.

Today, Battery Bin is a youth-led nonprofit initiative working with schools, colleges, NGOs, residential societies, and businesses across more than seven cities in North India. We make battery disposal simple and responsible — keeping harmful chemicals out of landfills and protecting the environment.

Having established a strong presence across North India, we now aim to expand across the rest of India, making safe battery disposal accessible to more communities.

Our Mission

Battery Bin is a youth-led nonprofit on a mission to make battery recycling easy, accessible, and meaningful for everyone — from homes and schools to local shops and offices.

With active collection points across more than seven cities in North India, we work to keep toxic battery waste out of landfills and our environment.

We're not driven by profit — we're powered by purpose. Through an official partnership with Lohum Cleantech, an authorised battery recycler, every battery we collect is processed responsibly under the Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022.

As we continue to grow, our mission is to scale our reach to major urban hubs and eco-conscious communities pan-India, making safe battery disposal accessible on a national scale.
